Glenn Worthington, our next Awesome Autumn speaker
The second Awesome Autumn speaker will be speaking at the Crater of Diamonds Diamond Discovery Center upper deck on Saturday, October 10th. Glenn Worthington, longtime diamond searcher, will talk about his experiences in the over 20 years that he has been looking for and finding diamonds. He found the beautiful 2.2 carat Easter Sunrise Diamond in early April of this Spring. But, this is only the largest diamond of the hundreds he has found over the years.
Glenn is also known for his popular history of diamond mining in Arkansas, “Genuine Diamonds Found in Arkansas”. This brilliant blue-covered book, and also the CD video are must-haves for anyone who is fascinated by our Crater of Diamonds State Park diamonds. Late this summer he released his third edition of the book. So, bring your copy, and he will be happy to autograph it for you. However, the best stories are always those told in person, and Glenn will have many stories of his personal adventures to fascinate and amaze you.
If you are a devoted rock hound, then don’t miss our third Awesome Autumn speaker. Michael Howard, a long time geologist with the Arkansas Geological Commission, will present a program called “A mineral tour around Arkansas: a look at the state’s mineral marvels!” Arkansas, the natural state, is blessed with many other mineral natural resources than diamonds, from the lead-zinc mines in the north to the petroleum in the south. Mike, who wrote the book on central Arkansas’s quartz crystal collecting areas, will tell us where to find those other fascinating crystals and mineral specimens. Mike’s talk, held at the upper deck level of the Diamond Discovery Center at the Crater of Diamonds State Park, will begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 17th.
