27th annual John Huddleston Day prize winners announced

  Greetings from Crater of Diamonds State Park!  On Saturday, June 19, the Crater hosted its 27th annual John Huddleston Day celebration, with hundreds of travelers from all over Arkansas and elsewhere in attendance.  The morning hours featured a special exhibit of famous Crater diamonds in the Diamond Discovery Center.
 
Visitors are treated to a special exhibit of dozens of famous Crater diamonds during the morning of John Huddleston Day.
 
  Throughout the day, kids of all ages enjoyed our classic lineup of games, including a three-legged race, egg toss, scavenger hunt, and the ever-popular watermelon seed spitting contest!  Following is a list of winners from each game, arranged by age category:

  Six orange bottles were hidden in our search area for this year’s Treasure Hunt, and so far five have been found.  Each finder returned the bottle and enclosed certificate to the Diamond Discovery Center to receive valuable prizes!

  David Anderson, of Kent City, MI, found Bottle #1, which included a free one-night stay at an Arkansas State Park, a Crater diamond, a prepaid $25 gift card from Diamond Bank, a one-year subscription to the Murfreesboro Diamond, a $25 gift certificate to Fisherman’s Cove in Nashville, wire-wrapped agate pendant from Jeanine’s Fine Jewelry, and a free oil change from Branch Welding & Service Center!

  Betty Lee, of Homer, LA, redeemed Bottle #3 for a free one-night stay at Queen of Diamonds Inn, a genuine Crater diamond, $100 savings bond from First State Bank of Pike County, $20 certificate to Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant, one-year subscription to the Nashville Leader, free oil change from Posey Lube & Tire, and a Plains Indian Stone Picture donated by Pop’s Antiques & Collectibles.

  Michael Teets, of Conway, AR, turned in Bottle #4 for a Moroccan Oil set from Family Cuts & Styles, cosmetics package from Merle Norman Cosmetics, a $20 gift card to Campbell’s Family Restaurant, a lamp from Southwest Furniture, and a six-pack cooler from Murfreesboro Hardware.

  Madison Trask, of Whitehall, MI, discovered Bottle #5, which included an Aqua Bat inflatable tube from Futrell Marine, hair products from Stephanie & Co., a value pack certificate from Trish’s Smokin Bar-B-Q in Nashville, a hat and bag set from Sharpe’s Department Store, and a vase from Ivan Smith Furniture.

  Jennifer Swinkowski, of Water Valley, MS, found Bottle #6 and won a package of salon products from Image Shakers, flower arrangement from 4 Seasons Florist, a pedicure certificate from American Nails in Nashville, a hat from Factory Connection, and a $15 certificate to Papa Pablanos in Nashville.

  One bottle remains hidden in the search area!  Bottle #2 contains a certificate for a free one-night stay at Swaha Lodge & Marina on Lake Greeson, a genuine Crater diamond, a $100 savings bond from First State Bank of Pike County, two rib eye steak dinners from Buddy’s Ranch House Café, a one-year subscription to the Nashville Leader, and an eight-can soft-side cooler.  If not found, we will offer weekly clues to the location of this bottle starting in next week’s article.  Visit Crater of Diamonds soon and perhaps you will find the remaining John Huddleston Day Treasure Hunt prize!
