Greetings from the Crater! It is with great excitement and sadness that I must bid
Crater of Diamonds State Park a fond farewell. I have accepted an interpreter position at
DeGray Lake Resort State Park and will begin work at my new park on January 12. I have enjoyed working at the
Crater and making new friends, but am very excited to take my career into a new direction with
DeGray Lake.
Working at the Crater of Diamonds has been a unique and challenging experience that I shall never forget. Whenever, in the past, I thought of diamonds, it was always in terms of them being out of reach or unattainable as they are a precious gem. Never in a million years did I ever think I would talk about, see, touch, identify and be so intimate with diamonds! What an experience! How many people can say they have had diamonds on their kitchen table on a regular basis? It is a memory that will last a lifetime for me. But above and beyond the lasting memories shared at the park, Crater of Diamonds State Park will always hold a special place in my heart as this is where I met my husband, Denis Tyrrell.
So if you are on t
he search for treasure, be it diamonds or true love, stop by the Crater, you never know, it just may be there waiting for you!
