4th Annual Famous Diamond Exhibition
John Huddleston Day at the Crater of Diamonds State Park, Saturday, June 20, 2009 will again host an exhibition of diamonds that have been found at the Park. The exhibition will be located on the plaza area of the upper floor of the Diamond Discovery Center. The exhibit will run from 9AM to 12PM (noon).
We are pleased that eleven Crater of Diamonds State Park enthusiasts and diamond owners will exhibit their collections. They are coming from as far away as Tampa, FL, and will be happy to share their experiences with attendees of the John Huddleston Day festivities.
Stephen Carter (Hot Springs, AR)—Found the Faith diamond (2.35 carats) in the middle of May this year.
Marvin Culver (Nowata, OK)--Found the Okie Dokie diamond (4.21carats) in 2006, and then was featured in an episode of the Travel Channel’s series, Best Places to Find Cash and Treasure.
David Hamlet (Tampa, FL)—A frequent visitor to the Park and the owner of the Richard Cooper Diamond (6.72 carats).
Jim & Shelly Houran (McKinney, TX)—Owners of a large collection of Crater of Diamond gems, both cut and rough. The collection includes the Lamle Diamond (8.61 carats) and the Star of Shreveport (8.82 carat).
Mike Howard (Little Rock, AR)—Geologist and mineralogist working for the Arkansas Geological Commission, he has for many years had an interest in the geologic history of the Crater of Diamonds.
Sam Johnson (Murfreesboro, AR)—Owner of the Ka-Do-Ha Indian Village museum and the Caddo Antiques store, he has been a collector of Crater diamonds for many years.
Donald Mayes (Springdale, AR)—A Crater of Diamonds visitor for more than a quarter of a century, he has found hundreds of beautiful Crater diamonds.
John Redar (Murfreesboro, AR)—“Diamond John” operates Diamond John’s Retreat on the banks of the Little Missouri River, south of the Park.
Shirley Strawn (Murfreesboro, AR)—Founder of the 100 Carat Club whose members have together found more than 100 carats of diamonds at the Crater. She also found the Strawn-Wagner Diamond (3.03carats) which has been rated as a perfect flawless.
Louella Terrell (Murfreesboro, AR)—Owner of the Murfreesboro Ace Hardware Store, her family has collected Crater diamonds for many years.
Glenn Worthington (Springdale, AR)—Found the Easter Sunrise Diamond (2.04 carats) on Good Friday, 2009 and is a longtime diamond searcher. He is the author of the book and CD “Genuine Diamonds Found in Arkansas”.
