26^th Annual John Huddleston Day

Come to the Crater of Diamonds State Park, 2 miles south of Murfreesboro, next Saturday, June 20^th and  enjoy a day of good old-fashioned fun.  The fun begins at 8:00 AM when the gates open to the Diamond Discovery Center and the Diamond Search Area.  You can start your fun when it still is cooler by taking part in our Treasure Hunt.  We have hidden orange bottles and rocks in various places on the search area.  If you find one you will receive excellent prizes that could include a stay at any Arkansas State Park lodging facility, a real certified Crater of Diamonds diamond, and/or one of many gift certificates to local businesses.  The search will continue until the last bottle or rock is found.

At 9:00 AM the 4^th Annual Famous Diamond Exhibition will open on the porch area of the top floor of the Diamond Discovery Center.  Many of the Crater’s famous and large diamonds will be on display, and their owners will be happy to swap diamond search stories with you.  The exhibit will close at 12:00 PM (noon), so get here early so you don’t miss this one-of-a-kind display.

Also at 9:00 AM we start off the games for young and old.  This year’s schedule is:

9:00 AM     Diamond Digging Contest for children 12 and younger

10:00 AM   Diamond Toss for children 12 and younger

10:30 AM   Three Legged Race for anyone over the age of 5

11:00 AM  Egg Toss for all ages

1:00 PM     Sandbox Scramble for children 12 and younger

1:30 PM     Scavenger Hunt for children 12 and younger

2:00 PM     Watermelon Seed Spitting contest for all ages

Prizes will be awarded for the winners in each age group.  So, practice your spittin’ and diggin’ and join in the fun.  We will have Free Watermelon for everyone until the supply runs out!
