Greetings from Crater of Diamonds! Last Saturday, hundreds of adults and children from Arkansas and states surrounding attended the 26th annual John Huddleston Day at the park, celebrating 103 years since the discovery of diamonds in Southwest Arkansas.
One of the day’s highlights was our fourth annual famous diamonds exhibit, where diamond miners and collectors from across the nation showcased some of their most beautiful treasures in a free public display of Crater diamonds. The exhibit was open from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., and hundreds of park visitors took advantage of this rare opportunity to see dozens of Crater diamonds in one place!
A traditional game returning to John Huddleston Day this year was the treasure hunt. This year, six orange bottles were hidden in the diamond search area, containing a variety of prizes. On Saturday, four of the canisters were found. This year’s treasure hunt winners include the following:
Bottle #3 - Found by Matt Bond, from Quitman, LA
Bottle #4 - Found by Shirley Wong, from Anaheim, CA
Bottle #5 - Found by Lindy Minnie, from Ola, AR
Bottle #6 - Found by Kenny Paul Lokey, from Arkansas
